You can do an iodine patch test to determine whether or not you are deficient, although it is not the most accurate. Far from it, because there are too many variables. I used to use it in clinic when I suspected an underperforming metabolism and the person had poor digestion. It’s a simple test. An iodine loading test is far more accurate, but the patch test is free. Theoretically, it should take 24 hours for the iodine to disappear. I have never seen it take that long. most adults are less than 8 hours. Some less than 2. The only person the iodine lasted 24 hours on, was my son when he was small. I painted abs on him with iodine. it stayed on longer than I expected. On me, the iodine used to only last 2 hours.
